Tariq Alfaqeh - Maktob

Project Overview: AE Films once again collaborated with Gamma Music to produce the official music video for Tariq Alfaqeh's emotive track, "Maktob." Taking charge of the entire production from initial conceptualization to directing and filming our team crafted a moody and atmospheric visual narrative that aligns perfectly with the song's themes of solitude and longing, all while beautifully capturing the essence of Jordan's capital.

Objectives:

• To create a visually striking music video that reflects the deep, melancholic tone of "Maktob."

• To utilize diverse and compelling urban and historical locations to emphasize the artist's sense of isolation, while presenting Amman in a stunning, cinematic light.

• To deliver a high-end production that meets the standards of Gamma Music and showcases AE Films' creative and technical capabilities.

AE Films' Approach: For "Maktob," we designed a highly stylized, cinematic approach that heavily leaned into atmospheric and low-key lighting. We filmed Tariq in a variety of striking nighttime and twilight locations across Amman, utilizing the city's unique architectural landscape from its historic stone archways to its quiet streets and scenic overlooks.

To visually represent the feeling of isolation within a sprawling metropolis, we framed Tariq with intentional negative space and utilized shadows to our advantage, creating a dramatic, slightly noir-inspired aesthetic that highlights the character and beauty of Jordan. The edit was paced to match the song's rhythm, blending intimate, shadowed portraits of Tariq with wide, lonely shots of the cityscape to craft a cohesive and emotional visual journey.

Results: The final music video is a captivating and moody cinematic experience that authentically captures the essence of "Maktob." It successfully translates the song's introspective narrative into a compelling visual format, highlighting Tariq's powerful performance against the beautiful, atmospheric backdrop of Amman.
